Viana’s 535i qualified first in class B, followed by the Skyline of Johan Coetzee, with Gary Dunkerley in the Porsche lining up third. Viana led the class B pack, followed by Coetzee and Dunkerley, but back off after lap 4 due to the car starting to shudder. After the race, he was quoted as saying: “I thought the diff was breaking, and backed off.” Coetzee went on to win, followed by Dunkerlry, then Wilford, with Viana taking a slow fourth.
