​Deon Joubert qualified first in class B, followed by Viana, Coetzee and Dunkerley. By the first corner, Coetzee had overtaken Viana to move into second place., but Viana took back second after a few corners, and they kept this formation until the end. Deon Joubert took the lead in class B in heat 2, followed by Tony Viana in second place. Johan Coetzee and Gary Dunkerley were swapping places for third, with Coetzee eventually settling in this position through till the end.
